Back to Jax – Cycle 3

We came back to Jacksonville Sunday for Clay to start Cycle 3, Part 1. Sunday night we ate dinner at the Landshark restaurant at the brand new Margaritaville resort on Jacksonville Beach. Everything smells new and reminds me of Jimmy Buffet’s marketing genius.

Cycle 3, Part 1, Day 1 – office visit with Dr. Hammond then infusions at the MD Anderson Outpatient building the rest of the day. But after all the infusions, we got to see Mark and Melissa for a delicious dinner!

The guy who always wore shorts even if it was freezing is not layering up everywhere he goes. He’s just “so cold” all the time. 😜🙄

Cycle 3, Part 1, Day 2 – Morning infusions at the MD Anderson outpatient building went really well and seemed surprisingly fast. (Of course I was not the one getting chemo, I was just doing some work). When that was over, we were starving and decided on brunch at Maple Street Biscuit Company. If you have not had a Squawking Goat Biscuit and a side of their collards – you are not living your best life! 5 stars – highly recommend. Then back to the main hospital for Interventional Radiology – intrathecal infusions. This is one of the less fun parts of the chemo for Clay (if we can classify any of it as “fun”). But everything went smoothly.

We got some delicious takeout from Beachside Restaurant (thanks to Jennifer for introducing it to us and to Mark for reminding us how delicious it is – have not been there in years). I ate way too much…but it was so good.

Can’t wait to get home to those sweet children!!! And we are really looking forward to the kids being out of school next week for Spring Break. I still have to work, but at least there won’t be any running around of the kids – and we can get in some quality family time!

Thank you to everyone for the prayers and support. We are more grateful that words can express. Please continue to keep us in your prayers – Clay will have another one of the “neutropenia” weeks the end of this week and most of next week – so hopefully he will be recovered enough for the second part of Cycle 3 on March 22. And although we love Marianna, I’d rather just be going to see Rick and Sara – and not to be going to the hospital!
